About The 2017 Election

Suzanne de Mahy is judge elect for the 16th Judicial District Court, Division B.

The 16th Judicial District includes Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary parishes.  This was a special election to fill the seat vacated due to the Honorable Paul J. de Mahy’s retirement.  Suzanne will be sworn in on December 15, 2017, and begin her term on January 1, 2018.

Meet the District Judge

Suzanne de Mahy is a graduate of Louisiana State University and Loyola University College of Law. She began her career as an attorney working as a public defender in Iberia Parish. In 2010, Suzanne started her private practice de Mahy Legal Services, LLC where she worked as a criminal defense and family law attorney, as well as provided services to the 16th Judicial District Public Defender’s Office in Iberia, St. Martin, and St. Mary Parishes.

Suzanne is well-regarded for her sincere sense of community involvement and personal reinvestment. She is active in The Inn on the Teche, the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce, the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce, the Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce, Iberia On Tap, the Teche Project, the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival & Fair Association, and the Louisiana Bar Foundation. She was named to the 2017 list of Twenty Under 40 by The Daily Iberian, and named one of the eight women “Making a Difference” by Acadiana LifeStyle Magazine.

Suzanne and her husband, Korey Kimball, reside in New Iberia.  She is the daughter of Judge Paul J. de Mahy and Marilyn de Mahy of St. Martinville, the daughter-in-law of Mike and Suzy Kimball of New Iberia, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Anne de Mahy and the late Dr. Bernard de Mahy of St. Martinville.
